Embers

I have memories of places
And people I have known
And for now, I remember
As my life has grown

These experiences
Were for better and for worse
Burning like a thousand embers

Through the cycle of remembrance
All these memories in me
One by one will fade away
And forgotten they shall be

I hold on to recollections
Of partners, loves, and friends
But in time, I won't remember
As life draws toward its end

And my experiences
Become more distant as I age
Fading like a thousand embers

Through the cycle of remembrance
All these memories in me
One by one will fade away
And forgotten they shall be
Through the cycle of remembrance
All this joy and pain in me
Will one day fade into the void
And forgotten it shall be

(And forgotten it shall be)

Through the cycle of remembrance
All these memories in me
One by one will fade away
And forgotten they shall be
Through the cycle of remembrance
All this joy and pain in me
Will one day fade into the void
And forgotten it shall be

And forgotten I shall be
